There is no reason that a child born in East Cleveland should have less access to quality education than a child born in Beachwood. For decades, politicians have continued to pour money into failing public schools and programs all while attempting to limit the choices that parents have over their children's education. Added to the fact that the government has forced a one-size-fits-all standardized approach to teaching and learning, much of our education system has been broken for some time. The solution is putting more power in the hands of parents and children. This means continuing to advocate for greater school choice, proper funding of charter schools that out perform traditional public schools and equipping our children with life skills rather than "teaching to the test." Healthcare costs are out of control. No one should have to go broke to get the quality care that they need. However, we must understand that more government control over your healthcare is not the answer. The healthcare industry is the most heavily regulated and subsidized industry in the country and over the past 20 years healthcare costs have increased more than any other industry in America. Yet, we are led to believe that if we just give more control to the federal government, our costs will go down. Not only has this been a disaster in countries like Venezuela, but ideas like medicare for all and universal healthcare will bankrupt the industry, destroy our quality of care and leave you holding the bill. The key to driving down healthcare costs is to allow the industry to operate more freely from the constraints of government and useless regulations. In Washington, I will advocate for healthcare reforms that are patient-centered and consumer-driven. We must open up the market to allow for greater choice and more options which in turn will lead to dramatic price reductions. Learn more:
I understand that our Nation's poor face many difficulties and hurdles on the road to escape poverty. However, for decades politicians have told our struggling Americans that they need a lifetime of government handouts and assistance to survive and that is simply not true. The truth is that you are far more capable of providing a great life for yourself and your children than the government is. As your congressman I will fight for policies that lower your taxes, attract new businesses that offer high paying jobs and allow you to break the chains of welfare and join America's middle class. A multi-pronged approach that puts adequate investment into workforce training, trade schools and deregulation that encourages private investment and business development will transform our struggling areas into vibrant neighborhoods. My campaign is centered on The Great American Idea, that all individuals are free to control their own lives and make their own decisions without government interference. Whether it is our right to bear arms, religious freedoms or freedom of speech, our government exists to protect our rights, not infringe on them. I am a firm believer that The American People are more than capable of running their own lives and making life choices that are best for themselves. I will work to return power back to where it belongs, with the people.
Restoring Love and Respect
Our society is divided. There is no way around it. Politically and culturally our country is fragmented and the resulting tensions are growing greater by the day. With the talking heads on television yelling over each other on a nightly basis and keyboard warriors on social media sending nasty tweets at anyone who disagrees with them, it is easy to get bogged down in the madness. It has become so easy to hate. I want you to know, that whether you are a republican, democrat or anything in between, I love and respect you as a fellow American and want to work with you to make this country a better place to live for all of us. We might not always see eye to eye, but that's okay. We must always allow for the free exchange of ideas and know that each one of us simply wants to live happy and healthy lives. Even if I don't earn your vote, I hope you will join me on the campaign to stop this hate and learn to love one another regardless of our political differences.
